Vehicle upgrades can improve capability, but the most important upgrade is still the person behind the wheel.

Ozark 4x4 private training is built around your vehicle, your experience level, and the skills you want to develop. Rather than placing you into a fixed public curriculum, we tailor the location, terrain, pace, and instructional priorities to your goals.

Private training may be used to:

  • Learn the capabilities and controls of a new vehicle

  • Build confidence behind the wheel

  • Improve terrain assessment and line selection

  • Develop recovery and winching skills

  • Prepare for an upcoming trip

  • Improve vehicle preservation and decision-making

  • Gain practical experience in technical terrain

Stock vehicles are welcome. Training is matched to the actual capability of your vehicle rather than an expectation that it be heavily modified.

How Pricing Works

All published base prices cover:

  • One client-supplied vehicle

  • One primary driver

  • Private, customized instruction

  • Training-area or route planning

  • Instructor recovery equipment

  • Field support throughout the scheduled experience

Ozark 4x4 does not provide the client vehicle under these standard packages. Clients are responsible for arriving with a suitable, mechanically sound, and properly equipped vehicle.

Additional vehicles require separate arrangements and may require additional instructors or support personnel.

Additional passenger charges apply to adults age 16 and older riding in the same client vehicle. Please contact us regarding passengers under age 16 so we can determine the appropriate training format, seating arrangements, meals, and level of participation.

Private Local Training

Private local training takes place in Northwest Arkansas or Southwest Missouri. The specific location is selected according to your vehicle, experience level, training goals, and the type of terrain required.

Local training is generally conducted within a defined training area rather than as an extended trail trip. This allows more time for demonstrations, repeated exercises, direct coaching, and focused skill development.

Training may include:

  • Vehicle familiarization and setup

  • Tire-pressure management

  • Traction-system operation

  • Terrain assessment

  • Line selection

  • Hill climbs and controlled descents

  • Ruts, rocks, ledges, mud, and uneven terrain

  • Spotting and driver communication

  • Winching and vehicle recovery

  • Recovery-equipment evaluation

  • Vehicle preservation

  • Decision-making under changing conditions

Half-Day Local Training

A concentrated private session for clients who want to address specific skills, learn a new vehicle, evaluate equipment, or build confidence without committing to a complete training day.

Up to four hours: $450 per vehicle

Additional passenger or additional-driver pricing will be confirmed according to the intended level of participation.

Full-Day Local Training

A complete private training day with additional time for demonstrations, repeated exercises, practical application, and individualized coaching.

Up to nine hours: $650 per vehicle

Additional passengers age 16 and older are $325 per person.

Private On-Trail Training

Private on-trail training takes place throughout the Ozarks and combines professional instruction with practical trail travel.

Rather than remaining primarily within one training area, clients apply their skills while moving through changing terrain and real-world conditions. Routes are selected according to vehicle capability, weather, seasonal conditions, current route conditions, and the client’s objectives.

Instruction may include:

  • Route and terrain assessment

  • Vehicle placement and line selection

  • Managing traction across changing surfaces

  • Trail communication

  • Spotting

  • Recovery planning

  • Water and obstacle assessment

  • Vehicle preservation

  • Adapting to unexpected conditions

  • Group and trail-management considerations

Up to nine hours: $850 per vehicle

Additional passengers age 16 and older are $325 per person.

Two-Day Local Training with Base-Camp Dinner

This package provides two days of private local instruction in Northwest Arkansas or Southwest Missouri.

The experience may combine practical driving exercises, vehicle recovery, winching, equipment evaluation, trip preparation, and other instruction selected around the client’s goals.

A catered base-camp dinner is provided during the first evening. The meal creates additional time for demonstrations, equipment review, recovery instruction, trip planning, and detailed discussion beyond the normal training day.

This is not an overnight trail-travel package. Ozark 4x4 personnel return home after the evening session, and training resumes the following day.

Extended trail travel is not guaranteed and may not be part of the local experience.

Complete two-day local experience: $1,200 per vehicle

Additional passengers age 16 and older are $500 per person for the complete two-day experience.

Passengers under age 16 require prior arrangements.

Two-Day/One-Night On-Trail Training

The overnight on-trail package is the most complete standard private training experience offered by Ozark 4x4.

Clients spend two days traveling through the Ozarks while developing skills across changing terrain, managing their vehicle over longer distances, and making practical decisions throughout the trip.

Routes, daily mileage, training priorities, and camp locations are selected specifically for the client. The experience may include route changes, recovery situations, changing weather, terrain assessment, camp logistics, and instruction that continues beyond the normal driving day.

A catered base-camp dinner is provided.

Unlike the two-day local package, Ozark 4x4 remains on-site with the client overnight. The instructor remains committed to the experience beyond the normal training day and is unavailable for other work or personal obligations during that period.

The price reflects:

  • Two days of private on-trail instruction

  • Customized route planning

  • Field and recovery support

  • Base-camp dinner

  • Evening instruction

  • Camp responsibilities

  • Overnight instructor presence

  • Continuous commitment throughout the scheduled experience

Complete two-day/one-night on-trail experience: $1,900 per vehicle

Additional passengers age 16 and older are $750 per person for the complete experience.

Passengers under age 16 require prior arrangements.

Standard Catered Experiences

The published multi-day packages represent Ozark 4x4’s standard catered experiences.

These packages follow an established operational format and include the services identified in each description, including private instruction, route or training-area planning, field support, recovery equipment, and base-camp dinner service.

Standard pricing assumes:

  • The client provides the vehicle

  • One primary driver is included

  • The vehicle is mechanically sound and suitable for the planned terrain

  • Training takes place within the normal Ozark 4x4 operating region

  • The experience follows the published duration and general service level

Providing your own vehicle allows you to train in the platform you actually own and operate while keeping the cost below programs in which Ozark 4x4 must supply, transport, maintain, fuel, insure, and accept risk for a training fleet.

Custom-Tailored Experiences

Not every client needs the same trip.

Ozark 4x4 can create custom private experiences based on:

  • Number of training days

  • Number of overnight periods

  • Group size

  • Number and type of vehicles

  • Training objectives

  • Terrain and route difficulty

  • Location and travel requirements

  • Camping or lodging preferences

  • Meal and catering requirements

  • Recovery, navigation, or expedition-specific instruction

  • Additional instructors or support personnel

  • Family, corporate, agency, or specialty-group needs

Custom experiences may be simpler or more extensive than the published standard packages. Pricing may therefore be lower or higher depending on the requested scope, duration, staffing, travel, logistics, meals, equipment, and level of instructional support.

Three-day, two-night experiences and other extended trips are custom quoted following an initial consultation.

Choosing Your Dates

Weekends and holidays are generally busier. Increased activity may affect the pace of instruction, route flexibility, and the amount of time available for repeated exercises.

Weekdays are often quieter and may provide more flexibility for detailed coaching, controlled recovery exercises, repeated attempts, and uninterrupted instruction.

Clients seeking the most training-focused experience are encouraged to consider weekday dates.

A Training Experience Built Around You

Every private experience begins with a discussion of:

  • Your vehicle

  • Your previous experience

  • How you intend to use the vehicle

  • Your comfort level

  • Your current equipment

  • Your training objectives

From there, Ozark 4x4 develops the location, format, terrain, pace, and instructional priorities that make the most sense for you.

You do not need the most modified vehicle.

You need the skills to get more from the vehicle you already own.
